As you can tell, my blogging schedule is erratic (i.e., I don’t have one). But for the sake of regular readership (and everyone’s sanity). I will try to maintain a routine of three blog entries a week. I try to respond to every comment worth posting. I do allow most comments to be posted. I believe that everyone who makes a worthwhile comment should get a response of at least a thank you (if humanly possible). In my head, I usually have a lot of ideas cuing up but life intrudes and I don’t get them down in a timely manner. This is something I’m working on changing.
In regards to comments . . . most are wonderful and I thank you. However . . . despite having a couple plugins to combat spam and bots I still get plenty of them. Sometimes I will get what I think might be a bot but I’m not entirely sure. Those I do post and answer but with hesitancy. With my luck, it would be a real person and . . . lo and behold! Another offended person. Sometimes these are comments that have nearly the exact same wording as some previous comment or use words in the wrong place ina sentence (usually a word that people seldom use or it is in an incorrect context).
To all those who have written comments asking me to respond by email. I apologize but every time I try to respond I get it back saying “undeliverable.” I don’t know if it is because the email address is incorrect, or it comes to me in the wrong form, or if it’s something to do with WordPress. To those who complain that they can’t find my contact info: I don’t know what to say. It’s up there at the top of the page. I know the font isn’t very big but I will try to change that. Just please stop writing me that I don’t have a contact page. You can send me an email at either one of these addresses until I say otherwise.
To those who have asked to quote me: Yes, you can quote any part of my entries under the following conditions:
1.) You notify by comment or email that you are doing so.
2.) You give me a link to the quote or at least the website/blog it is on.
3.) Do not misquote me or take a quote out of context.
4.) Give me and my blog credit as the source.
5.) Do not quote big chunks (more than a few sentences).
6.) Do not use entire entry.
To those who have asked me to guest write: I will consider doing so but you need to email me. At this time I do not have guest writers. Part of this is because I don’t think it’s necessary at this point and I like to be the sole author. This does not mean this will never change, it’s just how I want to do things at this point.
People have asked me for advice on starting their own blog. Believe it or not, there are entire blogs devoted to blogging out there. Many of them have better advice than I can give. I don’t say this to be a jerk or because I’m lazy; it’s just a fact. I use the combo of WordPress/Bluhost and I have had nothing but a good experience with both factions. That said, if you have a specific question I will still try to answer you anyway.
My way of approaching this blog is different than other people’s. For me it is:
1.) To be conversational but informative.
2.) To be about music in some form for 98% of all entries.
3.) To be enjoyable reading or at least something to consider.
To accomplish these ends, I will sometimes completely ignore commonly accepted ways (or guidelines to blogging). I will be myself at all times (for better or for worse). This is not a money-making venture by nature. So marketing is not my concern (even if it ends up being a money-making thing). I am pretty stubborn on those points. Though I do have fun with this, I do take it seriously.
I appreciate your readership greatly and encourage you to continue commenting. The idea is communication. Thank you very much. Cheers for now! TTFN.
