Frivolous as I know is, I thought I’d pass these on. For those of you not familiar with Robert Wyatt, I would advise you look him up on Wikipedia. Outstanding and fascinating musician as well as a fascinating person . . . with a great sense of humour. Met someone who knows him and he confirmed that Robert is a nice guy in real life. Unfortunately, he is only one of two surviving members of his original band Soft Machine . These lyrics are from his 1997 album Schleep.
“Don’t give up/ the dead man cried / there’s more us/ than there are of you/ soon you’ll all be on our side” from “Blues in Bob Minor”
“Look for the evidence in parentheses” from the same.
“Given free will/ within certain limitations/ I cannot will myself to limitless mutations/ what would I be/if I were not me?/ I can only guess me” from “Free Will and Testament”
“So when I say that I know me/ how can I know that?/ What kind of spider/ understands arachnophobia?” from the same.
Thanks very interesting blog!
